The client started the conversation with, “I don’t know how much I can do but I want to make it different.” The regulations of a condo only allowed for a rework of the existing interior footprint, so the goal was to introduce purposeful changes and maximize function and use.

The new kitchen layout removed the existing peninsula and double oven as it restricted the flow and cut down on much-needed counter space. Overhead cabinets were extended to meet an existing beam that was a natural delineation of the kitchen. Electrical outlets and switching were reconfigured — and hidden — to further enhance the crisp aesthetic. A much lighter and brighter material palette completed the modern, refreshed look.

For the primary bathroom, the existing elements were rearranged to separate the sink area from the bedroom. Pocket doors replaced swing doors and a full height wall bifurcating the sink area from the shower and toilet was reduced to a half wall. These simple yet bold moves opened up the bath and transformed the space into a cohesive bathroom. The same materials utilized in the kitchen were repeated in the bathrooms unifying the condo throughout.
